Come join professional nature photographer, Roman Kurywczak, as he shares with you all his technical tips and tricks needed to consistently capture tack sharp macro/closeup mages all in a single frame and handheld!

Roman will show you how to use your flash correctly to properly balance the exposure and achieve dramatic results no matter the lighting conditions. Participants should familiarize themselves on how to adjust the power of their external or pop-up flash (up or down), and where to change and set the f/stop, shutter speed, and ISO.

Where to Meet: In the Vestibule of the Front Gate of the Naples Botanical Garden at 8:45 AM to go over settings (4820 Bayshore Dr, Naples, FL 34112)

Naples Botanical Garden

  • A camera with a fully charged battery with memory card and a flash but even a pop up will do.
  • Any traditional macro lens will work but Roman will show you how a 100-400mm lens (or similar) works extremely well for macro/closeup photography. He will even show you that an all-in-one travel lens like the 18-400mm lens handles closeup photography.  Not only is it very light and versatile, it has a 17.7 inch minimum focusing distance allowing you to leave other lenses at home when traveling! Tamron will be there to provide loaners for many mounts but you may want to stop by their table on Fridday afternoon so you can try it out in the Gardens on Saturday morning.
